This really is an expert mode is nba 2k21 mt excellent. They didn't though. Last NHL 2ks were light years ahead of EA in terms of simulating hockey. They had the groundwork constructed to crush EA like they did in NBA. However what was lacking were a Career mode and an Ultimate Team mode. Latter being crucial since that's how these games make most of their revenue these days, from people that spend thousands to make their card group just so they could do the same when the second year's match.
Add to the images were not on par in terms of models and animations and the match had a clunkier feel. I gave up on EA NHL in like 15 (only played it to the 6v6 mode anyway) because they at there had hardly made any improvements to the gameplay for 2 years. I looked up what the game appears now and the core gameplay remains nearly identical to NHL 07. That's 14 fucking years of publishing the same game with some upgraded features and added animations. The goalies were shit in 2006 and they're still shit now. To me it's incredible they are still not moving like they're physical beings but they are only your basic game object glued to follow the puck regardless of how a person could physically go.
NHL2k did this a decade back, literally if you merely copied what they had 10 years ago the game improves immediately. It's comical both companies are just incapable of fixing their own matches weaknesses. They are like mirror opposites of each other. 2k online is a laggy mess, EA online works amazing. 2K gameplay mirrors sport, EA gameplay is arcade bullshit. 2K exploits never get fixed resulting in abnormal gameplay online, EA exploits become fixed along with the gameplay to win is ordinary even online. The single common factor they have are the modes and the greed, although 2K is megagreedy when compared with EA, surprisingly. Naw, NHL from EA sucks too.
The AI are bonkers. Upping the problem doesn't make them perform better, it simply makes them do unrealistic shit. The camera angles are trash, if not worse than they used to be. You sometimes get replays which are so far zoomed out you can not even see what happened. There are many issues I have seen in that game which how to buy mt on nba 2k21 you can find in the first hour of playing. It just shows their lack of QA. But at a certain point people will need to realize it has become $60 roster update each year.
